“Our current policing system is broken, it’s not working, and it’s time for change. My name is Ruamen De La Rua and I believe I am the best candidate to be your next Sheriff of Miami-Dade County. I bring with me more than 42 years of combined law enforcement experience. As a Sheriff Commander of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Central Florida (Ocala), I served the County’s citizens in a variety of positions earning my way up the ranks for 26 years. After retiring in 2013, our family relocated back home to Miami-Dade County where I was rehired by the City of Miami Police Department, also where my law enforcement career first began in the late 80’s.

I feel that I have an incomparable level of on-the-job experience and knowledge to bring to this very important position. My priority is and always will be to bring a culture of leadership through service, provide transparency, accountability, community safety, support the Deputies, and bring our communities into the fold to work together. You, as a taxpayer and voter, deserve an innovative, forward thinking candidate who is ready to put the citizens first and lock the criminals away.
